Children are the most defenceless victims of the global inequality that mostly strikes Sub-Saharan Africa. In an African county like Uganda, a child dies of poverty every five seconds. Famine, under nourishment, AIDS, malaria and other epidemics, as well as the lack of hygiene and medicine, overpopulation and military conflicts take twenty-five young children's lives across the world every second. World Press Photo Exhibition 09

The exhibition remembers the year 2008 via 196 pictures along with their detailed history. An international jury of thirteen judged works of art by sixty-four photographers from twenty-seven countries. Awards were given in ten categories. The World Press Photo exhibition is the most comprehensive mirror of our times. The photos shown are of weekdays, politics, sport, art, nature, changes, scientific results and people seen in the news. Student Chachipe - International Photo Contest about Decades of the Roma Integration

In November 2008 the Open Society Institute and the OSA Archives announced an online photo contest entitled Student Chachipe (truth, reality). The contest announced in the framework of the Roma Decades Programme 2005-2015 invited young people between the ages of 12 and 25. They were invited to send in photos of the life of Roma people.
