Judit Herskó exhibition

Judit Herskó has lived abroad since 1970. First she moved to Sweden with her parents, later she settled in the USA. From 1984 to 1987 she attended the sculptor department of the University of Michigan School of Art. She received her diploma from the School of the Art of Chicago in 1989.

She was acknowledged several times (United States Information Service Grant, Washington-Budapest, 1994; Arts Link Collaborative Grant, 1995). She took part at one-man and collective exhibitions, sometimes in Hungary, too (Europe - working and reworking, Arts Hall (Műcsarnok), Budapest, 1995; King Saint Stephen Museum, Székesfehérvár, 1996). In 1995, she received the Smohay Prize, in 1997 she represented Hungary with Róza El Hassan and Éva Köves at the Biennial of Venice.

She lives in San Diego and a professor at the California State University San Marcos.

Time broken down into moments, just as their representation with material that show continuous change thus impossible to grab, play important part in Judit Herskó's art. She records pictures that she connects with emotional experiments applying personal memories. She uses nature, physics as tool, the phenomena of shadow on the wall, process of picture unfolding of burning picture. The rationalism of objective world on one hand, supernatural phenomena on the other hand are the bases of her art.

Besides artworks formerly shown at the Black and White Gallery, the 'Witch Hunt' and 'Before America' also shows new artworks that somehow overlap, but also show events of the future.
