2010.07.28. - 2010.09.19.
Laces from the Past - Selection from the private collections of Tamás Pletser, Mrs Endre Illyés and Éva Boda

'The history of Hungarian lace goes back hundreds of years. It, however, practically meddled with lace-like embroidery and so it is really hard to classify it. The term of lace has to be changed as various fancyworks want to be called lace. One of these is the spider web-light lace but the heavy trimmings and pipings, the simple webs, the golden lace that looks like an embossment ornamented by gemstones, the bobbin lace, the sewn lace and many others.'
(Emese Kerkay: Hungarian Lace)

The visitors will find examples of every single type of lace. Besides Hungarian lace, there will also be Brussels lace, paper lace and lace-like metalworks, as well as 'laced' porcelains.
