Archbishopric Collection Center (Eger)
The king Saint Stephen founded the diocese of Eger. We do not know the exact date, but we are positive that it existed in 1009 under the protection of the apostle Saint John and the evangelist John. The old center stood where the castle stands today, near Saint John Abbey. The oldest ecclesiastic building found there was built around the turn of the 10-11th centuries. It is probable that the third bishop of Eger, Buldus, who died when Saint Gellért did, was buried there.

Archdiocesan Library of Eger (Eger)
The Archdiocesan Library of Eger is one of the most valuable historical and the only public ecclesiastic library. It was founded by bishop Károly Eszterházy Károly for the use of the university of Eger to be established. He meant to create a scientific workshop which would faithfully reflect the knowledge of its age and would give assistance in the field of education. As a result of this, he purchased the books from all over Europe with great circumspection.

Astronomy Museum (Eger)
The only permanent exhibition representing astronomical measuring devices and binoculars of the 18th century - and in their original environment - was opened on 16th April 1966.

Géza Gárdonyi Memorial Museum (Eger)
The author lived here between 1897 - 1922. It was here that he wrote many of his works, including "Egri Csillagok" ("Eclipse of the Crescent Moon"). This historical novel describes the wars against the Turks during the sixteenth century

Heves County Museum Service's - István Dobó Museum (Eger)
The first church to be built on castle hill was that constructed for the bishopric of Eger which was founded by St. Stephen. It was succeeded by a cathedral built in the romanesque and gothic styles. The bishop's castle, which was fortified after the Tatar invasion of 1241, underwent continual improvement up until the beginning of the eighteenth century. As a result of the heroic defence of the castle against the Turks in 1552 Eger Castle won renown and gained a patriotic significance as a symbol of Hungarian resilience. The following exhibitions can be seen within the walls of the István Dobó Castle Museum.

Heves County Sports Museum (Eger)
The historic past of Eger, the beauty and the high quality wines of this baroque town, and last but not least the fortress of Eger with the heroism of the gallant soldiers of the borders attract tourists from all parts of the world. The natural hot springs these natural resources also constitute the treasure of Eger. Tourists who have a desire for a bath can enjoy not only the refreshing warm water but its curing effects, as well, if taking advantage of the water they visit the open-air bath or the swimming pool.

István Telekessy Pharmacy (Eger)
The pharmacy was founded by the Jesuits in the 1713 whe Bishop István Telekessy donated a house belonging to the order for that purpose. It moved to its present site in 1900 where it functioned as a pharmacy until 1968. The museum was opened in 1987 and fitted out with restored furnishings. The furniture, made of oak with baroque rococo detailing, was purpose-built for the original Jesuit pharmacy in 1745-46.

Palóc Popular Art (Eger)
The exhibition focuses on the folk art of the Palóc ethnical group. The most beautiful carved wooden items are the works of shepherds. Among the popular ceramics there are the prominent pitchers and jugs of Mezőcsát and Tiszafüred.

School Historical Pedagogic Museum (Eger)
Károly Eszterházy moved to Eger in 1762. Until his death he worked as a bishop in Eger. He contributed much to the architectural, cultural and intellectual development of the town. Eger became a real center of the county and gained its structure and baroque athmosphere during the time of his leadership.
